About us

Nestled in the heart of Mumbai, Bai Avabai Petit Girls’ High School, established in 1913, started its journey as a primary-level boarding school, exclusively for Parsee girls. With an initial enrolment of forty students, the school quickly became a beacon of education under the guidance of a dedicated Board of Trustees.

In a significant move in 1963, the Board extended its arms to welcome day scholars from all communities. This pivotal decision marked a turning point, transforming the institution into a fully operational full fledged school. Today, Bai Avabai Petit Girls’ High School  stands as an esteemed minority private unaided institution, dedicated to nurturing young minds and providing quality education to the diverse communities it serves. With a rich history and a commitment to excellence, the school continues to be a cornerstone of education in Mumbai.

History

The life of Bai Avabai Petit is a tale of a woman whose vision was changed by her commitment and tenacity in the face of adversity. The donor and her daughter Bai Hamabai Framji Petit, aspired to establish an orphanage for Parsee girls and carry on her mother Bai Avabai Framji Petit’s name and legacy. To advance in carrying out her philanthropic goal, she willingly agreed to donate jewellery and ornaments for the setting up and management of the organization. It was in furtherance to her charitable intentions that she had formed a trust and directed the trustees to purchase a suitable site in Bombay or its immediate vicinity for constructing buildings for the Parsee Girls’ orphanage with all the necessary conveniences and facilities.

Bai Avabai F. Petit Girls’ High School was founded in 1913 as a Boarding School for Parsee orphan girls upto the Primary level. The School began with 40 pupils. It has since been administered by a Board of Trustees. In 1963 the Board decided to accept day scholars from all communities, irrespective of caste and creed. However, the boarding section is still confined to Parsee girls.

The School is affiliated to the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations.
